BNC Connectors

I'm trying to connect a 5x BNC cable to my monitor. Now, I've figured out where to plug the red, the green, and the blue connectors. Now, there are two more: the grey and the black ones. The manual speaks of a Composite Sync connector and a Vertical Sync connector. But which is which? Is the grey composite and black vertical? Or vice versa? Help!

Hey! Thanks for the response. But I'm still confuse. The link you gave me says:

When plugging in the cable make sure that the Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal Sync (HSYNC, usually white or gray wire), and Vertical Sync (VSYNC, usually black wire) connections are firmly in place and plugged into the correct input.

But the link they give for more information, has it all the way around:

Signal Function Color in cable

R Red Red

H/HV Hsync(+Vsync) Black
V Vsync White or Gray

Two links.... Two different configurations.... Just Great! 🙁

If I was hooking this up, I would try it one way, and if it didn't work, then swap the two cables . I don't think you could damage the monitor (but don't take my word for it!). If you are going to do this (it's up to you), you should change the resolution to standard vga (640x480 60Hz). At this setting, both the vertical and horizontal sync frequencies should be within the range of the other.

I don't recommend you do anything you are not comfortable with, but it should be fairly difficult to hurt a monitor just by having the h/v sync's mixed up.

Just my thoughts. Maybe you could contact the manufacturer of the monitor (if you haven't already)

Lay the connector out flat so you can look at it. In sequence, it should be:

Red, Green, Blue, Vertical Sync, Horizontal Sync. The black wire is Vertical Sync, and the white/grey wire is Horizontal Sync.

The connectors on the back of your monitor <i>should</i> be (check your manual), left to right:

Vertical Sync, Horizontal Sync, Blue, Green/Sync, Red.
