Hello!

Toshiba Satellite s55-a5375

1 TB 5400 RPM SATA HD

16 GB DDR3-L RAM

2 GB NVIDIA 740M

Intel 4600 HD

I'm getting the above error after trying to update to the latest insider build (17730). I get a recovery screen that says something like:

\boot\BCD 0xc000000f

I tried running my Windows 10 repair disk (build 17134). No success with auto repair. No success with System Restore. Cannot find the Reset PC Option (not coming up in Advanced under Troubleshoot). Tried formatting my C drive where windows was. (Disk 0 Partition 2) Format completed, but clean install try for Windows 10 could not complete. Back to boot loop.

For fun, I even tried to reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64 bit via CD. Did not work. Still in boot loop with above error.

What in the heck do I do now? I wonder if my HD now has to be replaced? I have until September 8 to fix this. 🙁 Any help would be appreciated asap. Thank you.

(I also posted on the Windows Insider forum on MS's site, but no response. Getting desperate. I also have no way to do anything with hardware.)

Deleting all the partitions will likely give you more free space on C after all this. System partition doesn't need 1.5gb, and you get that recovery space back as well. I believe the hdd recovery partition would be used if you ran a Toshiba recovery operation, its likely where all the spare drivers are but they all Win 7 drivers, you can get them from the Toshiba web site or windows 10 will find them anyway.

It will also fix up the page offering multiple copies of 7 & 10

CSM is fine for a 1tb drive, If windows notices you can switch to UEFI it will likely change it during the install process. Its tricky like that.

when you...
Is there anything on hdd you still want to save? If not, try deleting all the partitions on the drive instead of just deleting C and see if it continues. The partition its having troubles with isn't C drive. Its either the MBR or EFI details that it can't see (depending on how drive is formatted)

I had clean installed Windows 10 recently so all of my work was saved on an external HD and a 1 TB flash drive.

Here's what I see when either the Windows 7 disk or Windows 10 disk under "Where do you want to install Windows?"

Drive 0 Partition 1: System Total Size: 1.5 GB Free space: 914.0 MB Type: System
Drive 0 Partition 2: Total Size: 918.6GB Free Space: 910.8 GB Type: Primary (where I tried to format and reinstall Windows)
Drive 0 Partition 3: Total Size: 889.0 MB Free Space: 370.0 MB Type: OEM (Reserved)
Drive 0 Partition 4: HDDRECOVERY Total Size: 10.6 GB Free Space: 709.0 MB Type: Primary

When I try to repair the drive, it comes up with 4 Windows 10 entries and 3 Windows 7 entries for OS. What will happen when I delete all of the partitions (as opposed to format)? Also, in the BIOS, it's default mode is CSM, not UEFI. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'll await any response and get on the other computer tomorrow. Thank you for your continued help! :)

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished
