Hello,
Currently I am working on a Toshiba Satellite with windows XP 2002 home edition. and I have a infrufrating problem. I am in the process of wiping Windows and installing Ubuntu but unfortunately I cannot. I'm attempting a DVD installation of Ubuntu but my bios no longer recognizes my cd/DVD drive nor my USB for that matter. The only options is HDD with the normal options all being replaced with "FDD." What's peculiar is how sudden this happened as I actually had the DBAN software loaded correctly ready wipe the hard drive, but decided that before I do that I would test to see if the Linux OS would run off the dvd first before I replaced Windows. Once I tried to boot Ubuntu(after successfully booting DBAN) from the CD/DVD drive it crashed and since then there's no option to boot from the drive again. Only FDD
I did some preliminary troubleshooting: I disabled the HDD in the bios forcing the computer to boot from whatever FDD is. Nothing ng happened nothing booted. I loaded windows and discovered that both the CD and USB drive are connected and in working order which leads me to conclude that this is an BIOS issue, I'm fairly lost any help would he appreciated!
