boot problems

my computer been fine since i got it 6months ago

recently its not wanting to find the hard-drive

i find my self rebooting 10-15 times and going into the bios

and messing with some settings finally to be able to get to windows

i have a ibm 15gig 7200 rpm drive

someone please tell me if this is common or if there's a solution

The way I look at it, is if the drive doesn't show up the first time then there is something wrong. I have worked with so many Hard drives and I have never seen a good hard drive do something like that!

I would get the drive replaced ....

ive tried all the disk programs ibm told me to run

could it possibly be my mobo??

Try resecuring the connections to the drive.

The only way to tell for sure would be so swap out the hdd with a known good one,if the other one still does it then its not the Hdd, but it more than likely is, as other posters say, get a new hdd, or it may be a virus, more likely to be the hdd though
