My BIOS is flashed and up to date, and it recognizes my Samsung XP941, as does windows when I go into setup to install the OS. But windows keeps telling me "windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk..." Blah blah blah.

I've tried switching between AHCI and IDE, disconnecting all other drives, turning CSM on and off... And nothing works!

HELP. I need clarification: can the 990FX chipset even handle booting from the M.2 PCIE interface? Its listed on ASROCKs website that the Samsung xp941 is compatable, but is it compatable as a BOOT drive? I can't find clarification ANYWHERE, because there is almost no info on this board online... At all. Can you enlighten me as to why this situation isn't working out?

Everything else is working A-okay with no issues. I've already booted into windows on a Samsung SATAIII ssd from my previous build. There are no hardware faults, just a question of whether or not this stupid board is even capable of booting from M.2 or not, and subsequently, whether I need to return my xp941. Honestly though... If they advertise the M.2 slot on this board, yet it can't boot from it, then I'm at a loss for words on how worthless this board is.

Also, to clarify, I have tried installing windows 7 onto this drive both from optical disk and USB, both of them are still giving me the same result.

Have you selected the Samsung XP941 as the default boot device in the BIOS?

Also, from the mobo manual:

2.9 M.2_SSD (NGFF) Module Installation Guide
The M.2, also known as the Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF)
, is a small size and
versatile card edge connector that aims to replace mPCIe and
mSATA. The M.2_SSD
(NGFF) Socket 3 can accommodate either a M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s mo
dule or a M.2 PCI
Express module up to Gen 2 x2 (10 Gb/s). Please be
noted that the M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket
3 is shared with the eSATA3 connector; you can only choose either
the M.2_SSD (NGFF)
Socket 3 or the eSATA3 connector to use.

Are you using the eSATA3 connector?

No, I'm not using the eSATA connector. As I already said, the drive is seen by windows and all the hardware is working fine. The problem is Windows not wanting to instal onto the drive itself. Everything else is fine. I can use the drive to store data and install programs onto; but windows doesn't want to install onto the drive as a bootable OS drive.

I want to know why, and how i can get it to boot from this drive, if at all. I ALREADY READ THE MANUAL, YOU'RE NOT HELPING.

Samsung XP941 PCIe X4 M.2 SSD for work in boot mode you must go [f11] with an usb/boot/win and select from boot menu: UEFI (usb storage) installing win7/8

I've used
http://www.microsoft.com/it-it/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool
you must have an iso of win 7 or 8
Now xp941 work correctly booting.

Others M.2 on 990fx killer can be booted in same mode if the bios don't read as UEFI peripherical (sorry for my english) :) remember to update the firmware to 1.30, reboot, shutdown and clear cmos with jumper before proceed.
