Im looking to buy the linked speakers, but im not sure if ill be wasting money, considering ill be using onboard audio (Realtek ALC662, on a Biostar TA870u3+). Should i purchase a sound card as well? Im new to the audio category, so any tips will be appreciated. Im currently using a guitar AMP with a 3.5mm cable hooked up to my mobo, FYI.
Thanks in advance!

It depends on you really because the sense of hearing is very subjective. I have a Z-5500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121120 which so far have not prompted me to buy a sound card. I am using an MSI motherboard with:
- Chipset integrated by Realtek® ALC892
- Flexible 8-channel audio with jack sensing
- Compliant with Azalia 1.0 Spec
- Meet Microsoft Vista Premium spec
The main difference with your audio is that mine supports 7.1

I am not sure how the quality of the audio compares because I never had a BIOSTAR but I doubt whether it will be very much different. But then again, it is subjective...

I have perfect pitch, and a bit of a picky ear, but im not OCD about it. Considering that im currently using a shitty guitar amp, i think i can handle the slight loss in quality that comes with onboard sound cards. Thanks a ton, randomkid! hahaha

Edit: Actually, i have another question. I'm purchasing those Corsair 2.1 speakers, and in the "combo selection" checkout screen, there's a $10 sound card. Im clueless when it comes to soundcards...would something this cheap sound better than my current onboard audio?
