i used around 30 40 minutes before checking it so mostly me i think. i dont want to deal with returning it and getting back a new one if it looks like it has no problems. it has no bad sectors smart looks fine i think. so i prob should be fine or do you think its worth to deal with returning and getting back a new one ?
well, its not "new" as many other said. so far no issues. did you check other software other than crystaldiskinfo?

i also run windows chkdsk btw which also said everything was fine
yes, everything is indeed fine, only that the start\stop count is abnormal. im pretty sure its some factory testing thing, or maybe a lose connection that might have powered it on/off a couple times a minute?

im using same cable to power both this and my ssd can it cause that i dont think it would

i was suspecting a lose connection swhere the SATA power plugs into the drive , rather not the cable. i think you're referring to daisy chained SATA power? That's probably not the issue.
yeah thats what i meant. im pretty sure there is no problem with cable connections thanks for you help

its not set to turn off and even if did i checked crystaldiskinfo directly after connecting the hdd and opening my pc is ther a chance that this hdd is used or anything should i return it ?
Well I thought maybe you used the drive for a day and then tested. If you ran CrystalDiskInfo right after installing the drive and it showed 23 Power Cyclese that is not normal for a 'brand new' drive. Although that 1 hour of use does not correlate with the 23 ON/OFF cycles either as in a drive that has been used like in a system before.

you were right btw it turns the hdd off if its not used for 10 minutes can this be it ?
Yes if that happens it counts towards a Start/Stop Count every time it happens. I think this kind of 'Power Saving' scheme puts more strain on the HDD spindle/motor rather than when it starts once and keeps spinning until system is turned off. I'd personally let it spin as long as the system is up and running rather than stop and start spinning a number of times daily.

No Problem. Well that one hour would explain the 1 hour uptime (Power On Hours) that CrystalDiskInfo showed.

Doesn't explain the 20ish extra Power Cycles up to time of you took the screenshot with the CrystalDiskInfo though.

If as you said there's no loose SATA power cable and no software is showing any problem with the drive I wouldn't worry about it.

But I would keep a backup of imprtant irreplaceable data/files regardless. At least 2 copies on different media with one copy stored in a separate physical location.
