I just purchased a new Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard with an i5 2500K processor and G Skill 8GB RAM to replace my P5Q-E with E8400 processor.
I started with a breadboard installation (PSU, CPU, and RAM) with my known good OCZ GamerExtreme 750W power supply (it works with the Asus P5Q-E w E8400 CPU.
When connected and the PSU is powered on, the power an reset switch lights on the motherboard light. When the MB power button is pressed, nothing happens (no PSU fan, no CPU fan, no beeps). When the PSU is powered off, the CPU fan spins momentarily, and the CPU and GPU LED's also light momentarily.
Yes, I have connected the 4/8-pin 12V CPU connector....
Thinking this is a bad motherboard or CPU.... Thoughts?
