Hi,

So I have a Sony laptop that has windows 7 on it. The screen is broken and I do not have the money at this time to repair it. I connected it via VGA to another monitor and attempted to log in, but got the error user profile service failed the logon. In order to repair this issue, I have to go into safe mode, but as you probably know, you cannot see safe mode on an external monitor. I know the steps I need to take to fix the error but I am flying blind since I cannot see anything I am doing. Can anyone provide the exact steps including the number of times I need to hit any key, for example, the arrow keys to move through the menu options. Even better if you're able to provide pictures as well for this. If I can get this information, then I can try to fix the error and move forward using the laptop with the external monitor in normal mode. Any help that can be given is greatly appreciated.

If I haven't been clear enough in this thread, please ask for any additional information you need to provide help.

PS. I have already tried disconnecting the ribbon from the motherboard for the LCD in order to try and force the external monitor to be used as a default as this was suggested by someone else and it did not work.

Thank you!
