I built a new system (Ryzen 9 3900X/Asus Prime X570 Pro) but connected it to an existing laserjet (Brother MFC 9340CDW). Ever since then, print jobs have been slow to start and print. Other than the PC, the only difference is that previously the printer connected to my PC by Cat5e and my home network. This time I connected it directly with a 20 ft USB 2.0 printer cable.
So, I assume the USB cable is the bottleneck. I see some USB C (3.2) type printer cables out there.
My question: Will my MFC 9340 be able to take advantage of USB 3.2 speed, as it was mfg before that standard? Will it be as fast/faster than Cat5e. I know Cat5e wire is faster, foot for foot, but I thought a shorter, direct connection via USB should be better than sending a signal by Cat5e to the other side of the house, through the switch and back.
Thanks
