Hi guys,

Got a new pc from PC Customiser (pretty cheaply) and noticed it was running a bit hot.

So I fitted the Coolermaster hyper 212 from my old system - took a lot of fiddling as I had to remove the whole motherboard, cleaned off the new thermal paste and then seated the new heatsink.

HOWEVER, when I boot the pc now it stays on for a couple of minutes and then BSODs on me with the error message - system thread exception not handled...

This can be whilst sitting idle or whilst running Prime 95 for a minute or 2...

Is this due to overheating? Maybe I didn't seat the heatsink right - can it be too tight? Or did I add too much thermal paste?

Would be great for any advice as I want to play Mass Effect :(

Thanks,

Jimmy

EDIT: Specs are:
Kingston Beast 8GB DDR3 2400MHz Black
AMD FX 8370 Vishera Processor
EVGA 600W White Power Supply
Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard
120GB Kingston V400 SSD Now 2.5 SSD
Nvidia MSI Geforce 1060 6gb

Ah will do when I get home this afternoon - though this wasn't happening until I replaced the heatsink which is why I assumed it was related to that?

P.s I'll donate a fiver to the charity of your choice if you successfully help me - I'm desperate to play Mass Effect all weekend! Misteriosly - I'm going to try your method in an hour or so when I'm home

Please note I think I've fixed this. All I needed to do was reseat heatsink and point the fan the other way it seems - I've been running prime for 20 mins and no crashes so far. Thanks all
