Hi,

The Problem

I Have been receiving BSOD only after launching a game. i can start windows fine, run basic programs (itunes, sketch-up, photoshop) but once i launch a game i get a BSOD. i can launch path of exile and play but if it gets really intense, my screen flickers/freezes then BSOD, if i launch skyrim i cant even get to the opening scene after the intro credits roll. this happens on both games with graphics setting at low and high, makes no difference.

System info;

-win7 ultimate
-mobo - ASUS M5A99X EVO R2
-CPU - AMD amd fx-4170
-GPU - xfx radeon hd 7700
-PSU - Corsair TX650
-RAM - G-skill Sniper series 8GB (2 x 4gb)
F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR
DDR3-1866-CL9-10-9-28 1.5V
-SSD - Kingston HyperX 128gb

what ive done;

-windows memory diagnostic test; removed one of the RAM modules and ran one test on each module individually. no errors.

-Memtest86; Removed one ram module and ran one test for 3 hours on each individually. no errors.

-My mobo is an ASUS and i have just uninstalled the "AI SUITE" driver package as i heard that may interfere with CPU & GPU. no change...

-Computer temps are all normal.

-Im 95% sure i have all the correct drivers installed and up to date. i dont think i missed any key drivers. is there a good free driver downloader software anyone would recommend to help me find if i missed anything?

-All of the hardware is seated correctly.

-I have managed to find two .dmp files in winows/mindump folder. not sure if these are the right .DMP files to go along with the blue screen error. I also dont know how to load them onto the forum for you to see.

Other Notes & Questions

-I can upload my DXDiag if need be
-I have two .dmp files i dont know how to upload but can find out if needed.
-I recovered this error message after a BSOD when i started up in safe mode;

-what would my next step be if i have found no errors in the memory tests? im really hoping this isnt a hardware issue as i have no funds to repair at the moment.

-Could it be a timing or voltage conflict issue with RAM and MOBO?

-Im lost...please help...

Thanks!

Solution
Up to now, I think the problem is the hardware problem either the GPU or the pciex16 slot ( MB), so if you have other GPU then try it, if you have not problem then it it the GPU. If you have the same problem then it maybe the MB pciex16 slot problem.
Started up the comp today, browsing using firefox, launched and started to play POE, playd liesurely solo while browsing. Thats as far as i made it and it lasted about 30 mins. Then i got another BSOD, havent gotten one that fast after boot up unless i was running an intensive game, not POE. Worst part is it was a different BSOD error this time. first one like it.

Here are the links to both types of BSOD's now;

alright, on friday someone had said to me to make sure my .NET Framework was up to date as they had my same problem but that fixed it for them. so i checked my version and i did not have the most up to date version. so from the microsoft website i updated to the most current version of .NET Framework. It did not help. Still got BSOD.

After a month of troubleshooting and having no results i said screw it and splurged for some new components. I went with an ASUS GTX 660 OC GPU and an unlocked AMD FX 8350 black CPU (both unlocked and overclockable). I went with the 660 card because if i went bigger (760) id be bottlenecking at CPU and need a new one anyways and i couldnt afford all that. so i settled for a lower end card than what i wanted but got a new cpu (8 cores now instead of 4) so in the future i can get another 660 and SLI them.

I am able to run all games on ultra settings now (keeping off AA and Vsync) with absolutely no BSOD, errors, lags, glitches, tears, or anything... its amazing.

so for anyone else whos been having my same issue, sorry you wont find an answer on this thread. unless youre looking for a reason to buy some new components because thats the only things that fixed mine.

Here's a pic of my rig, sporting the new card and new 120mm heatsink to keep that OC'd FX 8350 nice n' cool.

A big thanks to all the contributors in this thread. even though it took new parts to fix the problem i appreciate all the input. i definitely learned some new things going through this process.

I tried to tell you a long time ago that your hardware was bad, it happens, its not unusual, no amount of tinkering around with software can fix that. So saying there are no answers on this thread that fixed your issue is baloney, you were told, you just refused to listen too, and accept the inevitable. Glad you finally came around and just picked up a new GPU and everything is working fine now.
