Hello.
I wanted to clean install Windows 10 because I had BSODs before.
So I used secure Erase in my BIOS Menu but I simply cannot install Windows 10.
It always stucks in any % on "getting files ready for Installation".
With stuck I mean freeze, cannot move mouse at all.
Often I get the BSOD Error "Machine Check Exception".

What I have tried since then:
Updated BIOS to newest Version
Used Memtest for my Ram
Borrowed friends Ram
Took out my GPU
Took out every USB Device except Mouse and Keyboard
Took out second Monitor too
Re-installed CPU and CPU Cooler
Reconnected the SATA Cables
Changed always some Options in the Bios
Used USB 3 and USB 2
Used multiple USB Sticks
Disconnected all Drives except the SSD
Used DISKPART > list disk > select disk <number> > clean > convert gpt

Pc Specs:
Intel i7 6700k Not overclocked
EVGA GTX 1080 Classified gaming
Samsung evo 850 500 GB
2 HDDs
Be Quiet! Power Zone 650W

I literally dont know what to do anymore.
I think something with my CPU is wrong.
What I noticed too is that the "Copying Windows files" is instant from 0% to 100% but maybe ist normal dunno

I cant believe we got this far without the motherboard model... how did I miss that? none of the attachments told me anything either about mobo.

it could be PSU, we running out of options. and many of them need spares to test fully.

well yes its a miracle.
im asking about the MB since i read something about bios updates when running into RQL problems.
so a bios update would be a good idea.

the ssd is a new model so could be its not fully supported yet.
anyway not sure if its a support issue or something else that might be fixed with a bios update.
though beats me why the install worked in the other pc and not in this one besides the psu.

I have the z170-a motherboard. Bios version 3301.
I noticed that there is a new version out (3401).
I will update it and tell later if it fixed my problem.

EDIT: Did not fixed my problem

okay... try refit the RAM and GPU and check all the connectors if they are plugged in completely. you have to hear a click. if you can boot into safemode you can install drivers so you should do that. you could use the program called driver booster for this. afterwards go to device manager-->click on view and mark show hidden devices. delete every driver that has a vague pictogram.

you can also try the following...
taking everyting out of the case and connect everything out of the case on top of cardboard.
there might be a short somewhere in the case causing this issue.

i suggest this option since its something you can do without costs.
its time consuming though.

I checked all the connectors and components. They're all plugged in correctly.
I updated all my drivers via driver booster but graphics driver because I cant install them in safe mode.
Its weird that my monitor is only registered there as not-PnP monitor with a warning sign in safe Mode and without one in normal.
I tried installing graphics drivers without safe Mode but it exactly hung at "finishing Driver-Update". I mean really exactly. Suspicious if you ask me.
I will take out the Mainboard tomorrow, its too late now (10:25 PM in Germany).
Updating my bios to the newest Version did sadly not fixed my BSODs.
Anyway, I want to thank you all for the on-going Support, it means a lot to me

aha nice.
before spending time on taking out the motherboard you should first uninstall the graphic driver properly with the program display driver uninstaller. afterwards retry installing the driver through driver booster. this might work. I myself ran into this problem before and uninstalling the driver before attempting the new driver installation worked for me. so go a head and try. fingers crossed.

there must be a fix for that monitor driver problem you have. you could try uninstalling the driver through device manager by right clicking on it and choose the option uninstall. windows will automaticly install a new driver.

let me know what comes up.

and you`re welcome.

Uninstalling graphics driver via ddu and installing it afterwards did not fixed my BSODs.
No matter what I try, both of my monitors are recognized as PnP Monitor and Not-PnP. I tried Uninstalling them and Update the driver but it did not worked.
I couldnt even install the samsung monitor drivers because the tool says that there is no display driver.

Trying to install without selecting a display adapter results in error

yeah i guess you have a point there. ofcourse its always a possibility to let windows update search for the display driver instead.
if DB does install a wrong driver wouldnt that be visible in device manager? I dont remember.

wel you can always install the graphics driver through nvidea geforce experience.

I am helping someone else who used db to get all drivers on PC and its really slow... his PC is MSI and could have used their driver updater had he known it existed.

Much safer to use the brands updater... mostly unless its Asus... their AI suite is dangerous in all the wrong ways. It gets right drivers I think but many of its other utilities tend to cause errors of their own. The new versions for Z170/Z270 motherbaords includes a utility called EZ update that should grab drivers for motherboard.

I thought he installing monitor drivers, not gpu drivers? I don't think Nvidia drivers recognise monitor brands, just the resolutions they support... looks... okay, maybe it does. Nvidia knows my Make/model but device manager just shows generic pnp monitor since the samsung drivers aren't needed with win 10

we almost have same monitor. mines a U28E590, you shouldn't need the drivers. Its samsung, I wouldn't be surprised to find out they never got drivers signed to work with win 10 and since version 1607 of Win 10, it won't run anything other than digitally signed drivers.

yeah its pretty slow but if you upgrade to PRO VERSION its decent.

I dont know about EZ update, doesnt everymotherboard come with a disk or flash drive with driver installer on them?

you could also use this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdQErJAPSYQ
http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/58263257/file.html

I use it all the time and it has a good rating too so this one might be safer then DB.

ah well never had any problems with ADU. you could suggest that one.
I also use advanced systemcare and that guy who said that that its all between your ears doesnt know what hes talking about. ofcourse everyone is free to think what he or she wants. its probably not needed but if dont like the hassle every time something is acting weird i recommend that program. never had issues with my pc since.

ADU + ASC + malwarebytes. supreme combo LOL:bounce:

just safer to do it manually. Only use I would have for DB is to see what it suggests and use it as a guide, I wouldn't trust its suggestions but if you know what is on motherboard you might be able to find the driver. Most of time the only drivers you need off any other site are chipset if Intel and lan/wifi/audio

I don't trust auto installers till I can find a review for it that isn't on a download site or iobit's own site. every other review tells me not to use them.

this guys motherboard so new the Asus drivers bound to be the latest anyway. For Nvidia, yes, use Nvidia site for them.

totally agree. DB was just the first thing that came to mind and 8 out of 10 times it just did what it had to do without problems.

I dont know about samsung monitors. I have an asus monitor VS247 and device manager knows this too.

the monitor shows as non pnp in safe mode just means the driver you have in normal doesn't work in safe mode.

Are drivers installing yet? didn't we try to install without GPU and it made no difference?

I meant it always shows non-PnP Monitor, regardless if on safe mode or not. Theres just a warning sign when Im in safe Mode. All drivers are installed and installing anything without my GPU made no difference

So is current install still the one you did on another PC?

We tested CPU, Ram, Updated BIOS, tried 3 different hdd. wrote off PSU as cause. GPU makes no difference. There are only so many parts left. Motherboard being one of them

Not being able to install onto PC without MCE errors or IRQ errors or WHEA errors is a problem going forward. even if we get windows working now, what about next time?

I assume you don't have any extra USB devices attached apart from mouse/kb as sometimes whea errors not caused by CPU and can be other devices. Any PCI cards?
