I've been having this issue randomly for a while now. I have not found any specific trigger at all. At first, I thought it was a specific game, Ark: Survival Evolved, as it was only happening with it. Then it began happening with other things, sometimes just Chrome open and videos. I thought at one point it might be 1440p videos, as I had YT open with a 1440p video and was on Twitter at the same time. These stopped happening around the 21st, and today, just happened again. I had Discord, Steam, and Chrome open. Chrome had 6 tabs open. 3 Tumblr, 1 Twitch, 1 YT video, and a Google Sheet. The Twitch and YT stream/videos was going on at the same time, I've done this plenty of times, it should not be a problem.

Is the Nvidia driver at fault here or is there something else? Would simply updating them to the latest version fix the error or should I DDU and install the latest instead? My system is up to date until KB5032190 as I had read someone updated their system, tried to DDU and could not reinstall drivers after that update. So I updated my drivers and then installed the update. They figured out the problem later, so I know how to get around it if so. My updates are paused for 3 more days and I can pause for another week if need be. I also have all the Minidump files uploaded to Dropbox if anyone needs them!

I do leave my PC on at times while I sleep but otherwise, it's off. I've done that the last couple days but I have shut it down a couple times after a bit either way. Today I have not yet until that BSOD happened.

Also, please if I have issues understanding be patient, I am trying to learn and ask questions. I also don't know how to do much when it comes to fixing things, like entering the bios to fix XMP, ect.

PC Specs:

CPU - i5-13600K
GPU - EVGA 3080 12GB (Drivers are currently 546.17, most recent drivers out are 546,33)
RAM - G. Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 5600 2 x 16 (currently running at 4800 rather than 5600, don't know how to fix it)
Motherboard - Asus ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming Wifi (Bios is seriously out of date I believe, 0807 is what shows in the System Information)
Cooling - Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420mm
PSU - Corsair RM1000x (2021) Gold
Storage Drives - WD Black SN850X 1TB, Crucial P3 2TB & 4TB
Monitors: MSI Optix G273QPF, AOC G2590FX x2
OS - Windows 11 (updated to KB5032190)

Edit 1/7/24: It happened again around 8:30 after having the PC on for about an hour. I only had Chrome and Discord open at that time.

give us a link to the minidumps though if they all just blaming Nvidia, its pretty obvious.

What is problem with windows update? They have released one for December now, might fix whatever issue you had. Doesn't help to just ignore windows update problems, they can be easy to fix.

I believe that is what they say. I been using WhoCrashed to try to read them. I get the Driver_IRQL error to show, but now I don't get the nvlddmkm.sys error to show in that app. I have the WinDbg app installed now, I'm positive I am reading them correctly but am unsure if I am reading the entire thing.

If it does turn out to be the drivers, would a simple update fix the issue or would I need to use DDU to correct it?

Here is every single Minidump zip file I have on Dropbox. The first one contains 2-3, the rest should only have one at a time and are dated.

Comment: The GPU tweaking driver "iomap64.sys" was found on your system. (AI Suite or GPU Tweak 2) - this could be involved as well.

The nvlddmkm.sys file is a NVIDIA graphics card driver. There are a few things you can do to fix this problem. First off, try a full uninstall using DDU in Safe Mode then re-install the driver (more information). Or try getting the latest version of the driver. Or try one of the 3 most recent drivers released by NVIDIA. Drivers can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/ or you can allow Windows Update to download the driver for you, which might be a older/better version.

I don't tweak my GPU though? Would the Asus Armoury Crate be why that is on here then?

So if I simply update my drivers, that might fix it? I do have DDU, I just never ran it or have any clue what to expect fully. If so, I can just let my PC update and then grab the latest one. My drivers are one or two versions behind the current one anyway. 546.17 and the newest ones out are 546.33.

i probably is but try updating Nvidia drivers first. If that doesn't work, try running DDU in safe mode and after booting into normal mode, run windows update and let it find drivers for card.

If I do it the one way, I'm gonna grab a set from the website. I don't want the HD Audio stuff. Don't need it, so going to keep it uninstalled. Will give it a shot tomorrow hopefully. Probably letting my Windows update later today, then will do that tomorrow or next after I see if anything is wrong.

Alright, got them updated yesterday, finally, and just playing around until I see if it BSODs. I did a Firestrike test per request from someone on a different forum thread. They was saying my GPU is apparently underpowering and that may be causing the issue (12v to 11.702v)? I've also been seeing where apparently there has been issues with OpenGL with 546.xx drivers. My Chrome uses that as otherwise, I get green artifacting on YT when I scroll.

Not sure what else to do but wait, anything else I'm gonna have to take it to a repair place. Will keep this post updated if any issues happen. :)

you are within spec. Minimum - 11.4, max = 12.6

https://www.lifewire.com/power-supply-voltage-tolerances-2624583

i don't see anything to show OpenGL errors with those drivers.

That's what my own father said when I started to talk to him about this a bit. He said that was fine, not all cards are gonna run at 12v all the time.

Apparently someone found that it was the issue for them, maybe it's not for me but I do know at least most of the time, the error pops up when I have Chrome open. So far, so good though! No BSODs since I updated my drivers. Hoping that is the end of it and I can go about watching videos and playing games like normal. :D

i don't know about the GPU underpowering, those stats are actually for power supplies.
my PSU runs from 11.8 to 12. all day, i wouldn't think the GPU uses most of that.
that is entire system usage.

GPU rail - The PCIE slot its in only supplies 3.3volt, the extra cables can only supply so much
1 volt = 1000 watts -

3080 needs 350 watts - https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3080-3080ti/
needs 2 8 pin power connectors. Each 8 pin supplies 150watts max.

if you have the 2 cables attached you should have overhead. Not shortfall.
I have the same PSU, I wouldn't think it have a problem powering that PC.
