Bt homehub 2 dropping internet every 10 mins

I have just received a new home hub 2.0 from BT. I installed it. simply out with the old, in with the new.....downlaods are 200kbs faster, all is well except. LIterally every ten minutes. the connection to the internet goes down...

THe wireless stays connected. But I have to dis connect from the router, then search for it, and re connect for the internet to come back on.

The broadband/internet light DOES NOT display an error/connection loss. So I cant understand what the problem is....Anyone ?

Home Hub 2 has been superceded by Home Hub 3 to address the very problem you are experiencing - I know because I had a version 2 some months ago and it was infuriating to deal with. So much so that I dragged out an old NetGear router which did the job but didn't have as good a wireless range as the Home Hub, but at least it stayed connected.

My son managed to get me a Home Hub 3 and it's been a whole new experience.
So BT have sent you a discontinued model which was updated because of a high volume of complaints about it's performance.

My guess is they sent you a version 2 because they've got loads of them worth virtually nothing now, whereas a Home Hub 3 has a retail price of £99 to existing BT Broadband customers (outrageous in my view), see this:

New customers, however, should receive a Home Hub 3 free of charge as far as I know, since that's the current model. If they sent you a Home Hub 2 as a new customer, I would contact them and ask them why they've sent you a discontinued version of the home hub (be prepared for possibly feeble excuses).

That is ridiculous! Thank you a lot for this information!...I'm gonna call them tomorrow. Luckily I still have the old one...I'l llet you know what they say...Should be ammusing

I do apologize!......Just looked on google images.......I have the 3.0.......
the 3 is the one I'm having problems with. The 2.0 worked fine.


I feel a bit of a div now!
