I put together a "dream build." I then put in lower cost components that would basically do the same thing for me and ended up with the following build, what do you think? I'm hoping to get a 4.5 GHz overclock out of the following build. I also want to try 3D surround vision.

I was going to buy this all today since I had to wait until this year to make a purchase. Since Newegg is out of the BenQ monitors it looks like I have a little bit more time to tweak this build.

Solution
I bought one GV-N670OC-2GD from Newegg, and one from ncix.com. lol

All I need now are the monitors to get back in stock... that or I could just order them from officemax.

Why not? 😛

Actually, I wasn't sure if the rebate on the newegg purchase would work for two (In my experience is always one per household) and I wanted to get the two game coupons since I don't own either of those games and would like to.

Well looks like you just bought the 2 cards I'm currently using. They can do some serious overclocking on the memory (got mine up to 7.6 Ghz without the GDDR5 error correction kicking in). The GPUs on the other hand are kinda luck of the draw. Most people can overclock to around 1250 Mhz or so, let me know if you are one of the lucky one who can get above 1300 Mhz without voltage mod.

Also, with only 2 GTX 670, even if you overclock them to the max of their potential, you are gonna need to turn off MSAA completely when gaming at 5k x 1080 resolution, especially when you want it to run any where near 120 fps or else those 120 Hz monitors are gonna be wasted 😛.

This is very similar to the build I'm working towards. I went with a single 670 and ASRock Extreme4 for budget reasons and may upgrade later.

Question: Why not opt for the msi 670 on newegg? It's the same reference design but a factory overclock and $350 price tag

There are also cheaper 256 GB SSDs to be had, but I've read good things about the 840 pro.

well you made the right decision you can only do 1 rebate on newegg. its pretty lame that you don't get the free games on ncix.

Only 1 rebates(s) per qualifying product per household per promotion will be accepted
