Hey guys...I am lost with so much information and I need your help.

I am a photographer and videographer and sometimes I have to use a lot of programs at the same time. I have never had a PC before...I have always been a laptop user, the thing is I don't even know if its worth it to buy a new laptop...after some research some laptops are more expensive than buying parts and building the computer.

Could you give me a suggestion as to what parts you would recommend for the computer? I don't need new generation stuff, I just want a computer with good performance while using the programs like Photoshop, Lightroom and video editing programs at the same time.

Thank you!!

Photo and video editing are about RAM. So 32GB would be a minimum and 64GB would be recommended, IMO.
Then storage and BACKUPS. With a desktop you have room for multiple physical drives which allows multiple physical interfaces. You can layout a storage subsystem such that your scratch disk for Lightroom is physically separate from your OS or project, for example. @USAFRet has a PC with a storage layout like this.

What country are you located and what is your budget?

All comes down to budget as well. High end laptops can be expensive, but also depends on what you want in the total package. Paying the premiums they ask for added memory and storage can be offset by getting a base model and upgrading it yourself. (When possible, more and more we are seeing soldered ram and storage.)

Do you already have a monitor and keyboard? You can certainly spend a lot on a color accurate display, but there are many suitable mid-range displays with excellent color accuracy. Resolution and size to consider as well.

Hmm, will you be needing WiFi or can you hook up direct with an ethernet cable?

Any size or appearance preferences?
Hmm no, I have a cable for internet
I found a mid tower but to be honest I don't have any appearance preference , important for me is doing my work without getting nerves because everything is so slow.

My suggestion is a little overbudget. A lot of that is the motherboard and GPU.

RTX 3060 12GB is a good workstation card and isn't too expensive. The 12GB of VRAM on a large bus can be used for rendering and encoding in many adobe tools.

CPU is 6P cores and 8e cores. P cores will be good for fast responsiveness, and the e cores will be good for large processing jobs. Sticking with the stock cooler, but if you find the CPU fan to be too loud, an investment in a larger CPU cooler can be done any time.

Motherboard has excellent I/O, high speed USB ports being the main selling point over a more basic motherboard. Also support for a thunderbolt add in card should you find that useful.

Did go for 2x32GB of DDR5 memory which should let you keep your programs and projects open at the same time. Technically room to double it in the future if you want, though that could be problematic.

Did not build storage in depth as was suggested earlier, and it is certainly possible to spend more here if desired. An external back up drive is always a good idea (part of the reason for the fast ports)

Personally, I would suggest 3 physical drives. All SSD.

1 for the OS and applications.
1 for photo work.
1 for video work.

Now, the kicker....;)
On the Photo drive lives the scratch space for video applications.
On the Video drive lives the scratch space for photo applications.

Then of course, whatever your backup routine calls for.

Photo and video applications require strong CPU/GPU performance. Since GPU prices have dramatically increased in the last 5 years, it's a little hard to get a good build under 1k, but here is a template below. If you can increase your budget to €1100-€1200, then you can double the RAM and increase your storage. If you absolutely need to remain under the 1k, then you can start with a 1 TB SSD and add more storage and RAM later.

Total price €1240

DDR4 64Gb
Three NVMe 1Tb SSDs
Unfortunately not a super strong CPU. It's not slow but it could be better.
Sparkle Titan Arc A770 16Gb GPU
Seasonic PSU with enough power and cables.
Case to host it all. (needs a USB-C front panel kit!)

Motherboard is further upgradeable to a 14th gen CPU and a further 64Gb, though that is quite extreme.
It doesn't have a ton of Gen 2x2 USB ports, but that's expensive. It does have Gen 2 USB-A and USB-C ports.
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A Port (10 Gb/s)
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C Port (10 Gb/s)
- 4 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Ports
(Plus a Gen 2x2 USB-C header on the motherboard)

There's a Thunderbolt connector on the motherboard.

For ~€1500 i would up the CPU to a 13600 or 14700 and buy a silent air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15.

To stay under €1000, i would drop the Titan and run off the integrated graphics. Unfortunately, it is quite useful for video editing. Moreso than gaming.
But it's your money, and these are the options.
