Now mind me if this is not the correct area for this question, but I'm trying to build a gaming computer for the first time. I just want to know if this setup will work and if someone can direct me to both a CD/DVD drive that has the best bang for it's buck and a case that can properly hold these components.

that motherboard is very expensive. and you can get a i5 2500k that offers the same performance as the 2600k gaming. what is your total budget and what parts do you need?

I have roughly $2000 budget. The only things that I require are a power supply, a dvdrw drive and the tower itself. Yes the motherboard is quite expensive yet it offers a BIOS that allows for an amateur to try and overclock.

A few things here. First off as others have pointed out, the 2600K gives no advantage over the 2500K in regards to gaming. Secondly the 22nm Ivy Bridge cpu's due out next spring will support PCI-E 3.0 which this board down below has. That board, which is new on the market btw also has the UEFI bios that you mentioned. So I wouldn't sock my money into a 2600K right now, I would sock that $100 away towards a Ivy Bridge instead. Maybe by then there will be games other than FSX that support hyper threading.

Nice :) Don't forget to combo those to save some $$. Also there is no difference in quality between the G.Skill and the Corsair RAM. Not only do you save money by using the cpu + Corsair RAM, it also looks nice ascetics wise if your into that kind of thing...black case, black mobo, black psu, and black ram.

What 1 millisecond slower? Louder? I can't hear mine whatsoever.

Your paying for the warranty and the reliability. Samsung just recently started making hardrives, WD been making them for decades.

Samsung offers average warranty at a decent price. For a little more with the Black, you get almost double the warranty and better reliability. Never had a single WD failure.

Last week had to RMA a F3 for noise that I used in a friends build. Just over 1yr old. Never again. Oh and Seagate, yeah, stopped using them after the 7200.11 firmware issue where I had to replace and re-install 6 different hdd's. Now they lowered their oem hdd warranty to 2yrs, they aren't even a consideration anymore.

Like I said, you get what you pay for.

both drives have a 1:10 doa rate. i did the math on newegg. they are both very reliable its just the f3 is a much better deal.

I apologize for my mistake of not mentioning my country of origin as I had figured most combos would be the same, or at least relativity close. Besides my error in communication in which I'm most regretful about, may I go ahead with the current build?

How is it a better deal? You get what you pay for. With the Samsung, you pay for and get a 3yr warranty. With the Black you pay for and get a 5yr warranty. I suggest you do the math again.

No problem, but that is why in the new build section it tells you to fill out the form, so we know where your from, what your budget is, your computer uses, preferences, where you want to purchase from, etc.

The "revised build #1" looks great.
