I'm looking to build my own NAS or JBOD storage box for general use backup and storage. Preface: I'm learning a lot of this fresh and I have very little idea what I'm talking about...
I have an old PC running linux Zorin (4TB internal)
6 seperate drives (12TB total)
a seperate casing that will hold all the physical drives
a dozen sata cables etc.
a bunch of fans and old cooling systems that can jerry rig
It'll need a power supply (found this?) and something to convert the 6 sata to 1 usb, does it need something other than software to make it JBOD?
It's not going to be on 24/7 but will get a lot of use, really doesn't need backing up bc all data is otherwise freely available or already a backup.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Please and thank you!
