Hello its time to build a new computer and i was wondering if i should go for Intel or Amd.I have two systems at the moment to choose of.The first is a Intel P4 with a P4E 3.2 GHz CPU and a Asus P4P800-E Deluxe Motherboard,
Twinmos PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024 MB Kit with two matched moduls,And Gainward Geforce 6800GT 256MB. Or should i go for the Amd Athlon 64
With a AXP 64 3200+ with a MSIK8N Platinum Edition S754 with the same memory as the first choise and the same graphic card as the first system.
I´m only playing games and encoding videos with this computer.
I´m not going oc this system just going with default settings.

I'm thinking the amd 64 is ur best choice, especially for the gaming.

Mobile XP 2600+ (11X200)
Abit NF7-S v 2.0
Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200RPM
512MB Corsair Twinx 3200LL
BBA 9800 Pro
Enermax Noisetaker 420 watts
Win98SE

Another vote for Athlon64

I'd go with the A64. Not only is the CPU a bit more powerfull, but I believe the motherboard is much better too. P4C800-E Deluxe's have a design defect that causes unstable CPU core voltage. I'm fairly certain that the flaw is present in all P4C800 and P4P800 boards.

I would go with the A64, but I'd choose a Socket 939 board... of course the CPU's start at $450 from what I've seen.

Maybe i can oc this a little bit or should
i go for some other components?
Would be nice if i could hit around 215-220 FSB
with stock cooling.
