Hey guys,

My desktop (HP Pavillion Elite) just died (mobo is dead) and I decided to build a PC and I was looking for some feedback. This computer will be used to surf the web, use Microsoft Office, watch movies, play games (I'm more of a console guy, but I'm willing to try out PC gaming). I'd like to stay under 1,200$. I'm not planning on overclocking the machine at this time, however I plan on doing so in the future (I think I got all the right parts to do it). This is what I came up with

If you are going to add another gpu then that psu is great. Otherwise, I would get a corsair 500W psu. Also, why don't you get the 770? It'll last longer

Sounds good. Thanks

I might add another GPU later, still unsure. I'm not a big PC gamer (yet). And the reason I didn't get the 770 is because it is 100$ more. I'd like to keep my build under 1,200$ (but I can go over if need be) and I don't know if I'd really need it. Thanks

Yes your motherboard is VERY overkill.

Anything $120-$150 from ASUS will be great.

You don;t need to upgrade anything. Get a 550w PSU from XFX like I said. Most people claiming to want to add another card later never do. And if you want long enough (3 years) you will want to replace the PSU then anyway.

Um, I was never talking about the CX series. Corsair as a company has much higher quality products than its competitors. But even I agree that the CX series was a screw up

Definitely get a mobo from asus, they have very high quality products, and with the money saved, you should get a higher end gpu so you don't have to upgrade sooner to support higher graphics intensive games

Corsair does not make a 500w PSU aside from the CX so I figured that was what you were referencing.
