Hello,

I am going crazy trying to get my new computer setup. Here are the parts I bought:

Gigabyte ga-p35c-ds3r mobo
Intel Dual Core E2160 1.8ghz
Geil 2gb - 2x 1gb ddr2 800
550 watt power supply

I already had a case, dvd burner, fans, and two 250GB IBM Deskstar SATA/150 hard drives.

I am trying to setup RAID0 and I started with the sata 2 0 and 1 ports using the intel south bridge raid. I noticed right away there are really long pauses during cmos boot, and the raid menu was really slow in accepting my keystrokes, but it seemed to create the raid.

Windows vista however couldn't detect the drive, even though it loaded the raid drivers. Windows vista install also had very long pauses in between screens which seem out of the ordinary.

Since then I have tried all sorts of combinations of connecting the hard drives using the various sata 2 ports, different cmos settings, using the gigabyte raid chip instead of the intel south bridge, and nothing works. Sometimes it only detects one of the drives, sometimes both.

I even tried just connecting one of the hard drives with all default cmos settings and it wont detect it at all, if I hook up both hard drives it will detect both but there are extremely long pauses and windows vista wont install.

Any ideas? Please help, I'm desperate and going crazy, thanks.

Update: Out of shear desperation I tried switching the power connectors from the 15-pin SATA power connector to the 4-pin standard connector and it miraculously fixed all the problems.

Go figure.
