Im building a gaming pc. I need a new everything. Just trying to build the best one for my price range . Im willing to spend about $750.

The local microcenter has this bundle going on. I get a processor, mobo, 16gb ram all for $250.

Intel Core i5-12600KF Alder Lake 3.7GHz Ten-Core LGA 1700 Boxed Processor

msi z790-p pro wifi gdr4 - mobo

and 16gb ram (not sure which one was included)

I get all of this for $250.. is this a good deal and what I should go with? if so what gpu should I use? Also I have 1 tb SSD but its not 4th gen, idk what gen it is, will I be able to use this still or will I need a new SSD as well?

Feel free to post your ~$750 build.... if you can manage to fit a monitor into that budget that would be awesome

Keep in mind I am poor and wouldnt mind spending less money. I just really am tired of my current rig at this point. Its basically a toaster now. so is my 60 hz 36inch samsung tv I use as a monitor

I already have windows 10

Thanks in advance.. any advice on what components to go with helps

That bundle is a great start. The rest of the system isn't too hard to put together.

What kind of monitor were you wanting, bare minimum usable or something you can keep for a good while?

Your SSD should be fine, regardless what kind it is. If it is a slower PCIe, it will work just fine. If it is SATA, that is also fine.

Thats what I was thinking. Seems like a legit mobo. amazon's selling it for $200 alone

As for what monitor, Id like something 1440p and at least 144hz. like I said im currently using a 20 year old 60hz 36 inch samsung tv for a monitor so id be happy just having a normal monitor at this point lol........I mainly just want to be able to keep my pc for a good while. Im not concerned about my monitor as much.

Hmm, 1440p not really in the running. 1080p 144hz is, and the GPU to go with it.

Could maybe drop the GPU down to the RX6600 and get back $40, there is only one off brand 1440p 144hz monitor for $160 at the moment.

That combo should be good. I know we were talking about the bundle from microcenter earlier. I think this is the combo he's looking at.

https://www.microcenter.com/product...s-v-16gb-ddr4-3200-kit,-computer-build-bundle

I've got the 12600kf and it's a great cpu. I've also got the z690 version of that board and very happy with it. Looks like it has 4 m.2 slots on it like mine, which will make storage upgrades very nice.

I did see they have this PSU in stock, what are the thoughts on it? Was looking but tier list I can see is from last year.

https://www.microcenter.com/product...700_Watt_80_Plus_ATX_Non-Modular_Power_Supply

When I was looking at cases, I did see this one. Microcenter brand but appears to have 4 fans so that might shave off some $$ if you like rgb.

https://www.microcenter.com/product/668759/X1_Tempered_Glass_ATX_Mid-Tower_Computer_Case_-_Black

6650xt is a decent card.

Also, if I recall, I think if Microcenter has the same product, that they will price match Amazon and Newegg if you show the ad.

If 1440p is where you really want to be and spend a bit extra, how about this?

https://www.microcenter.com/product...60-x-1440)-170hz-curved-screen-gaming-monitor

27 inch 1440p, 170hz. Should be good for a few years. Just keep in mind you may have to dial settings back a bit if you want to run 1440p, though you should still be able to set games to 1080p. But on the other hand it sets you up later for if you upgrade the graphics card in a year or two.

this seems cheaper than the one eximo posted earlier but still has great reviews on amazon for what its worth.

https://www.microcenter.com/product...60-x-1440)-170hz-curved-screen-gaming-monitor

I would be willing to pay an extra 20-40$ to get a 1440p monitor. This monitor even has 177hz dang

I still am not 100% on what gpu to get... I currently use a 1050ti.. you say the 6650xt is decent then I guess Ill just go with that.. im already spending too much money

looks like I need to take a trip to microcenter now

yup.... thats definitly my 1050ti......lol nice youtube video... its hard to watch the 1050ti compared to the 6600. Ya the 1050ti definitly will make you sick just looking at it sigh....

I forgot how expensive it is to build a good 1440p rig. Thats why I havent upgraded yet was hoping the prices would come down some.

You think all this is worth the investment right now or should I save my money and wait for prices to come down some more? like if I cant even run in 1440p... should i really be spending this much? should i drop a hundred more for an actual gpu? Is 1440p even worth it? Is it best spending a little more? spending less idk

24" is the right size for 1080p

27" is when 1440p makes sense. 1080p and the density gets too low.

I would not get a Thermaltake Smart power supply. That is a lower end unit.

RX6600 and 6650XT are quite decent cards. RX6600 out performs a GTX1080.

Could maybe cram a 6700XT / 6750XT in with another $100. Only other alternative is the Intel A770 or the RTX4060 / RTX4060Ti and they aren't great choices for price/performance.

Anything more and you would have to start looking at bigger PSU, which wouldn't cost too much.

Microcenter is not a great place to shop to be honest. They keep most of their non-deal prices higher than average. You can do it, but you have to get them to price match every product. They really draw you in with bundles and certain loss leaders in the hopes you make impulse purchases at full or higher then retail price.

The bundle on the cpu does look good though to me at least. Like I said I've got the z690 version of that board and my z690 is a nice board. I would say if you shop Newegg though, be VERY careful to select stuff labeled Shipped and Sold by Newegg. There are some 3rd party sellers on there and while some of them may be good, you may not always know exactly who you are dealing with.

If you do have the extra, this isn't a bad card and would get you to entry level 1440p I think

Yes, their bundles are legendary. And they tend to have CPUs at at little less than retail.

Made a journey to the new Indianapolis branch over the holidays. Got an SSD and a mouse, had to price match the mouse. Retail 89.99, Microcenter 119.99.

Right now 99.99

Logitech themselves selling it for 82.99

Slightly better with an RX7600 and a 1440p monitor.

What about the Intel arc a770? Seeing that on Newegg for about 280 for a 16gb card. Never used one but I hear good things about their gpus.

They are great until they aren't. The hardware is there, the support, not so much.

On newer games they do very well. DX12, Vulkan works great. The newer drivers also work pretty well with many older DX titles.

However, sometimes it just doesn't work and until Intel gets around to fixing it, there are some games that just don't run. AMD is the safer option unless you like to tinker.

I picked up an A380 to keep an eye on the drivers, the driver installer alone is still buggy and doesn't work most of the time. I have to manually extract it, point Windows to the driver, and then manually install the latest Arc Control app.

Hopefully Battlemage is better at launch than Alchemist.

"the driver installer alone is still buggy" ...lol Ill pass

What would I have to pay in order to run 1440p at around 180 frames. which gpu should I get if trying to run around these settings

This would effectively double the amount of pixels and framerates I currently have

and Im using this 36inch if i can put those pixels on a 24" monitor that sounds like it would be awesome
