I definitely would like to keep my rig for over a decade lol. I have a 1st generation i7 and it's the best chip I can put in my mobo...with ddr3 ram. It's a terrible feeling...i7 2nd generation cpu is so trash I see what a bad cpu does I'd definitely like one that's overkill just to stick it to my i7. 12000kf is like 150$ on Amazon not that much.
If I don't go with that bundle and don't need that mobo for overclocking. What's mobo should I go with and what cpu
I had an i7-8700k until 2 months back. I was moving my PC, it applied pressure to the back of my GPU, and it broke my sole PCI socket. Such a shame, it even overclocked to 5.2ghz all cores. I would have kept it if I could, those i7s sure are built to last. Mine was still maxing everything out no problem, with plenty to spare.
With no overclocking then I would recommend ditching the i5-12600fk and treating yourself to a i5-13400 or i5-14400. Same core counts, same type of speeds, slightly cheaper. All three should get you a decade.
Careful if you go for the i5-14400, some of the motherboards being sold haven`t been bios flashed to the latest revisions yet. You might need to USB bios flash yourself.
With no overclocking you can cheap out on the motherboard, and you should cheap out on the DDR5 too, no higher than 5600. PC Parts Picker will give you the cheapest options on any particular day.
If you stick with the bundle then take notes of the components and buy them separately yourself, it`ll be cheaper.
