Budget is 1500$ and must include the monitor but no other peripherals (or OS). I would rather have no glitches/tearing over high resolution. ODD and SSD should be included. Here are the builds that I have come up with so far. All recommendations are appreciated!

Solution
144htz is great, i have a 1080p 144htz monitor and I am actually better at battlefield 3, its not placebo my stats are better. You can definitely tell the difference immediately when you move your mouse around, everything is so much more smooth and 1440p 144htz would be fantastic.

And no the other parts do not bottleneck the 980ti, They are quality parts that are a good deal right now.

Okay, so i am going for the higher htz upon your recommendation and some research, but do you think its worth getting lower resolution (1080 vs 2080) to get g-sync? Or should I just stay with the current monitor?

This is all a personal preference thing, I have never used a g-sync monitor and i am not really sure how it looks so i can't really make a recommendation. And 1440p vs 1080p is also a preference, Do you care about a higher resolution?

I just feel like it's a waste not getting the higher resolution monitor when I am spending so much on a quality video card

That saves me over 200$. I can actually buy this now. I can always get 2080 in a few years if i need it i guess. Thanks for all your help! (may ask one or two questions but if not, I'll let you know how it goes!)

Know anything about Keyboards? Older corsair k70, or excalibur or blackwidow ultimate or CM storm quickfire? Have a friend who works in store that sells them so i can get ones under 130 for like 70$.

Well mechanical is a great way to go, I have kaihl blue switches which are basically the same as cherry switches, I also have a keyboard that is cherry mx brown but prefer the blues. Just look up some comparisons of switches,

I like the corsair keyboards and cooler master quickfire. It is more about personal preference, you should look around at reviews.

+1 this is a great build and another +1 for recommending the NZXT S340.

Yeah, this guys awesome and he really knows his stuff.

The xeon is a quad core hyperthreaded CPU and is basically an i7 with a lower clock, It is much better at stock clocks than a 4690k, If you spent some money on overclocking a 4690k then it would do most games better but you would need a pretty good MOBO and cooler. And even then the xeon would be better in games that take advantage of 8 threads, And games are starting to be able to take advantage of 8 threads, crisis 3 and bf4 are two that i know at the top of my head and a xeon would perform better in those games than a heavily overclocked i5.

hey everything finally came and i started building-i was wondering if i really needed the glue for the CPU or if i could just use the screws on the fan? Please let me know as soon as you can so i can order it if need be. Will continue building and just add it if necessary i guess.

I would probably go watch a few youtube videos on pc assembly before you burn up your money.

I watched them. intel cpus come with paste already attached. problem is that it came off-some remnants of it are still there but its not sticking very well. the lack of a CPU fan shouldn't prevent a computer from turning on-it will only make it overheat incredibly quickly The power supply won't turn on even though its already connected to the motherboard (and everything else.) Even if the other wiring is wrong, the PSU should turn on and the motherboard should beep if something is wrong.
