Built fresh pc I got a signal yesterday today no signal

Hello.
I am a novice pc builder and I need some help figuring out a fix for this problem

My specs are as follows

H270 msi pro gaming mother board

I7 7700k

Trident z 8gb ram sticks (2)

GeForce gtx 960

800w power supply

Hyper 212 evo cpu cooler

500gb harddrive (toshiba)
1 tb harddrive (toshiba)

I have 5 fans not including the gpu fan

My problem
I couldn't get a signal for a while trying to figure out a solution. Everything was plugged in everything was working. Except I didn't get a signal. For some reason it didn't accept the vga cables I was using and instead used HDMI.*for some reason after the HDMI worked it accepted vga*
So now it's working I installed bios and turn my pc off for the day. I go back on today and no signal on anything. I plug it back in and put. No signal.

I can't figured out what the problem could be if my monitor was getting a signal yesterday and not today.
*the bios kept notifying me while installing that it can't update*
*I tried update my graphics card aswell but it mentioned something about refusing to update.*

Please help

I did use an adapter(for vga not hdmi). And it only provided a signal yesterday with the gpu

First, you connected DVI cable to GPU with VGA adapter, and got no signal.
Next, you connected HDMI cable to GPU, and it worked (you got to BIOS or Windows?).
Then, you connected DVI cable again exactly as previously and it worked now (with or without reboot?). But it does not work next day.
Correct?

Yea. I don't get why this occurred

First suspect would be faulty cable (or more likely adapter). So sometimes it works, but often not.
Btw, why not just use HDMI cable? You get better quality image using HDMI cable over VGA cable.

Alright I'll switch them out and try HDMI and I'll tell you if anything doesn't go right

The problem is back but now I get no signal with HDMI or anything I accidentally shut down my pc with a switch on an extension cord and now I get no signal

Everything turns on? Fans are spinning, lights on motherboard/GPU are on? Monitor works? Was it also connected to that extension cord?

The power for the monitor was along with the entire pc. Everything was working for 6 hours I even installed a bunch of stuff on it. But once I hit the extension cord everything relating to the monitor refused to get a signal

Reconnect all power cables for both monitor and pc. Reconnect HDMI cable as well. Make sure monitor works with different device like console or TV decoder.

Monitor works with a console

I unplugg cord to power supply and to monitor that are powering them.

Plug in HDMI for monitor and pc
Plug in power sup ppl y
Turn on pc
No signal

I'll try using my pc on a traditional tv and maybe that will work

I honestly can't think of what could be causing it on the inside of my pc. The gpu is fine it's from an older pc and I don't get a signal with neither the gpu or mobo so I can't imagine what's causing it

Well, when you abruptly shut it down, components might get damaged if your PSU is low quality. Speaking of, what model your PSU is?

I am unaware of everything about the psu all I know really is that it is a thermaltake either 800w or 750w

Thermaltake is not that bad. Still something is clearly not working. Time to start disassembling. Remove GPU from machine and connect HDMI to motherboard.

I did that earlier and I d9nt get a signal on the motherboard but i can check again
