Hi, my Corsair modular AX850 power supply broke down, upon opening, I can see burned component, but I can not identify it, therefore replace, because all the writing have been burned away 🙁 I would appreciate all help, Maybe there is a way to identify it or option to get a schematics for psu?

Solution
Given the picture and description above, I'm going with thermistor.

There's really on;\ly 2 components in the pic and the PCD-112D2M is a relay. The description "relay is energized and the path to the thermistor..."

Trick is, with the numbers burnt off, finding the right one.
By opening the PSU, you have likely voided the warranty. Best I was able to find

The way this relay is utilized is pretty clever. A thermistor is used in series with the AC input. This thermistor is used to measure and protect against inrush current. Once the PSU is already up and running, the relay is energized and the path to the thermistor is cut off. This increases efficiency by not including the thermistor in the primary circuit

Might also try researching Seasonic X series upon which the AX850 is based ... maybe they will sell you the part

right - could this burned thing actually be a thing called varistor? metal-oxide varistor (MOV) found it here: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/psu/40853-quiet-dark-power-pro-10-650w-psu/

Solution
Call Corsair, say it's put of warranty.. ask them if ya can buy, or at least identify, the part. They prolly don't keep on hand as its an old design, so you may have to go to Seasonic.

Another option, contact the relay manufacturer and give them the numbers off the relay.... see if they have any suggestions.

Right, I have contacted both - Seasonic and Corsair, will see what the result will be. Everyone around is saying that it is impossible to identify thermistor without data sheets..........hate when people are saying that without even trying 🙁 Gives me motivation though :)

Hi zakitc ... i have an identical problem with my ax850 ...
maybe you found out the value of the thermistor for this power supply ...
in my case, the thermistor is broken into pieces ...

Greeting and thanks in advance ...

Hi, Sorry for delay...

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find solution and at the end - the hassle and cost of fixing the old one over exceeded the option - ''just buy a new one'' :) Yes, and both manufacturers said - sorry, this information is ''classified'' :) so no help from that end.
