burning cd's in xp

I wouldn't use it... stick with Nero or something.

I haven't found a good way to do any sort of CD copying but for most other things it works well.

To use the built in CD burning "program" just drag the files you want onto the CD-ROM in My Computer. There are other ways of doing some other things with it but that's the simplest.
 
If you are copying Audio CDs, Window Media Player can help. It has a very
nice interface for Coping tracks to your HD. IMO nicer then Nero. If you
are on-line, WMP will recognize the CD, list each song and allow you to
simply 'check' which tracks to copy. Click copy and it does the rest.

The burn to CD is less friendly and I generally use nero for this.
