So this morning after taking my computer off sleep mode, internet was not working and apparently it made my modem crash or something. I had to call my ISP and they made me reset it with the little button in the back, from that point wireless was working but my desktop which is wired does not detect the network.

If I look at the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V in the proprieties of my computer, it tells me ''This hardware?(French Windows sorry)cannot start (code10)''

I tried right clicking my computer and press fix the problems which ask me if I want to reinstal the pilots, I press apply, it works for a while and then tells me the device has a problem on the driver level.

I tried reinstaling drivers from the cd and it doesn't help either. I also tried another cable.

Any help is very welcome. I need this figured out fast since it's Monday and I live in a somewhat remote place so if I need to order a new motherboard or a network card, I really need to do that today to hopefully get it this week.

Edit: The motherboard is a Maximus VII hero from ASUS.

My local electronics store has some used ones(surprising) and they are letting me borrow one to test it out, so hopefully that works.

Shocker, the guy gave me something that doesn't fit, pci probably instead of pcie, my guess, the pins are too big.
