Hello,
I am going to soon build a new gaming rig and my friend just got a GTX 980TI and offered to sell his GTX 980 for $300. This sounds like a fantastic deal, but is it even worth it since pascal GPU's are going to be released around April sometime?

Solution
That is a good deal.
A lesser GTX970 will cost the same.
On ebay, used GTX980 cards go for more.

You can game well on a 1440P monitor.

Pascal will be attractive at the very high end where it is expected to perform better than the GTX980ti.
Expect to pay $800-$1000 for one early.

And, if he is your friend, pay him the full amount.
well seeing hes your friend and how you do a friend is you got get 250$$ in 5's 10's so it looks like a big wad of cash [compared to 3 100$ bills] and you hold it out under his nose and say come on man its all I got .. and see if he bits on 250 bucks now you got a deal and could not care less about pascal at the moment and got a card to hold you over well until you see how pascal works out [may not be all its hyped up to be overall]

what are friends for ?? lol....

ya, all I said was in fun I would do it as long as he stands behind it even a friend I would install it in my system [wile he watched ] and insure it works as you expect it to and all's good then pay the man

I'd do that and run that card and wait and see how pascal really works out .. you may be glad you got a 980 in the end ??

I think your safe and got a great card to hold you over this way you can wait and see if pascal is all its hyped up to be by then once its out retail and in peoples hands to beta test it for you .. you may find this is a better deal then you expected getting the 980 today??
