Greetings all.
For a while now I've been browsing Tom's forums and only recently did I have the courage to actually register(always felt as the community was out of my league:). In the recent close future both me and my gf are deciding on upgrading our cpu's for the sake of playing guild wars2 and other games with better performance. Currently we are both running on i3-530 @ 2.93ghz and we were wondering what would be a good and affordable quad-core solution. Something up to 130 euros. I also observed that a new line of amd cpu's are soon to ship out but sadly i can not find exactly when this would be:(

Further more, i have no knowledge of overclocking and would be afraid to do so to begin with, since my case and it's parts all together are pretty basic.

Anyways, thank you for your suggestions in advance:)

I used the 530 for awhile overclocked at 3.65, and it ran flawlessly. I recommend you look for a used 750 if you have a separate video card. The 750 has no onboard video option, but is a pretty good quad core, and you won't have to change boards. Here's one on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Core-i5-750-Processor-SLBLC-8M-Cache-2-66-GHz-/370615384056?pt=UK_Computing_CPUs_Processors&hash=item564a65f7f8. I would buy the heatsink separately unless you get a good price on the retail boxed version. If you don't overclock, the Intel heatsink is adequate, but your i3 heatsink won't provide enough cooling for the change.

Thank you for your answer 01die, how would the 750 fair against a phenomII x4 965be? since i see that they cost about the same, and i'm not a fan of used hardware.
