Hey people, so yesterday i was browsing in facebook marketplace and i found out that rtx 3070 is in a really good price in the used market were i live...i was wondering if its a good idea to purchase one if i sell my current gpu. This one is an rx 67000 xt sapphire pulse. I know its not the best change becouse of the 12gb of the 6700 xt vs 8gb of the 3070 but lately i been struggling to play some latest games at 1080p even, like starsfield or remnant 2 or even hogwarts legacy. They just dont run good in my amd gpu and i was wondering if thats becouse of the brand and it would run better on an nvidia card, despite the 8gb of vram. Thats why i am asking you guys, would it make sense to sell my rx 6700 xt for a 3070 without spending more money on it? Would it get me better performance at 1080p high or ultra settings than my rx 6700 xt? What do you guys think?

Pc specs:
Cpu: r5 5600 non x
Gpu: rx 6700 xt
Ram: 2x8 gb of ddr4 3600 mhz patriot viper.
Disks: 2 ssd
Psu: xfx 650w 80+ bronze

Hello.
Keep in mind that AMD's cards were used for "mining".
Since Nvidia introduced that limitation , most miners migrated to AMD for obvious reasons.
So finding an ex "miner" have a high chance.
It is your choice ofc.

I dont mind that it was used for mining. I bought my rx 6700xt used and it was used for mining and it works well. But im asking if its a good idea to change this card for the 3070. And if its gonna give me more raw power at 1080p high.

6700xt vs 3070 is pretty close. If I recall, sometimes the 6700xt traded blows with the 3060ti, other times with the 3070. The advantage it has over either one is the extra vram, which if you keep your cards a while, then the 6700xt may actually last longer.

If you can get the 3070 for cheap, go for it if you feel like tinkering. However, looking on ebay, the 6700xt is going for more than the 3070. I think I'd consider keeping what you have unless you feel an itch to tinker. I did see one model for 140. For that, that's a good budget card for 1080p though.
