Buying a used 1 TB HDD for ~$17, would like opinions [crystal disk info pic included]

The hdd is 5 years old according to the seller. It looks good to me, just wanted a double check by the awesome people here.

The disk was still powered on (and off) almost daily for 5 years though. Turning it on, running for a few hours, then off again like that would probably be more impactful than just leaving the disk spinning.

I still recommend just buying a new 1TB, they are cheap.


umm did you look at the pic? It's better than my 2 y.o. HDD in many ways, and it has a rating of 'Good'. Tell me no again and imma drop it though

 


It's not the 5 years that has me buying it...but the fact that according to crystal disk it's been used just for around 270 days. I usually wouldn't bother, but the report makes the offer a bit tempting

Solution


The simple fact that it has been used for 5 years means that those faults it isn't showing right now, could turn into catastrophic faults at any time.
