I'm looking for the coolest running bare bones laptop I can find in the budget range. I have a heart condition so I've been bed ridden lately, so I usually have it on my legs or on my chest.

From the new laptop sticky: 14", Under $500, low res screen is fine. I just need it for web browsing, emails, streaming, ect. No gaming, other specs not important as long as it runs cool. Buying in Canada.

I wasn't sure what spec to go by for temp, just the CPU or the battery or if it's a combination of things.

A few years ago I got this 14" HP 14-db0020nr. It was still toasty but I could stand using it, and others I tried were even hotter. But the screen broke and this model is no longer available new in Canada.

It's CPU was AMD A4-9120C (1.6 GHz base clock, up to 2.4 GHz max boost clock, 1 MB L2 cache, 2 cores) It's batterry was 2-cell, 47 Wh Li-ion.

So very low spec. For comparison purposes, is there a website where its temperature would be listed? Where I could also compare to newer models? Or do I have to make a subjective guess based on the specs?

I’m wondering if Chromebook or iPad might be an option for you. First one is cheap and low temp, second is not cheap but low temp with good battery life.
I should say the model I listed above is a Chromebook, and would prefer another. I did find this newer low end HP,

The battery is the same but the CPU is 3.4 vs 1.6 on the previous. And 4 cores instead of 2. Could a more powerful CPU possibly be the same temp if it's newer and more efficient OR would the 3.4 certainly run hotter?

Again, is there a good site that would list temperature specs so I could compare?
