By how much can we overclock with the Intel stock CPU cooling?

I'm not an overclocker but I'm eager to know if we can overclock a CPU like the E8400 to 1600 MhZ FSb using the stock Intel Cooling on an Asus P5Q-E.

I don't have the CPU from now on but will save some money it?
I'm also want to buy a very good CPU cooling like Zalman Max Orb and the Artic Cooling Freezer 7 pro or some other good cooling.....

The stock coolers on the 45NM CPU's are soo wimpy its ridiculous. But if you have good case cooling you should be fine. Just dont expect to get too high.

I would spend some money on some quality cooling to get a higher OC. And safer one too.

Xigmatek HDT-S1283 + retention bracket kit = $30 of nice air cooling (matches Thermalright 120 Extreme performance for less than half the price)

^Thats true. But have you seen the 45NM ones? Its ridiculous I mean come on its about HALF the size of the 65 NM ones no joke. How cheap can intel get eh?

E8400 easily overclocks up to 4GHz with only changing FSB speed (all voltages are auto).
CPU-Z reported that at 4GHz vCore was 1.3V which i think is high.
Tho 4GHZ is not recomended with stock cooling as mine was getting really hot, reached 70C+ very fast with everest stress test.

It is possible to overclock up to 390FSB (+18%) with ASUS EPU, this is at default voltages. System is stable and not as hot.

I should also say that my mobo is P5Q.

As 1,36V is something like a safe voltage for CPU, i think its possible to get 4,2GHz out of it with good air cooling (maybe even more?).

Not too sure about this CPU with the stock CPU, but my best I've got a Pentium processor to overclock off the stock CPU was about double with the Pentium Overdrive. Anyone remember those? :non:
