Oh! man, one good reason for this "always on" is like to alway cheack that you have a valid key for your copy. Good bye to the guys who download a copy from bit torrent site and copy the crack over the original exe program.

I think I understand EA, they selling game to make money, not to make fan. If this business model make more revenue for them, all the game release after this will use this feature.

Good bye, pirate guy.

Another stupid move that will hurt legit buyers more while pirated copies of the game wont have any of this BS.

We all know that there is no hack-proof solution.

I rather say, Good Bye Legit buyers 😀

What about us in the military that deploy? Quite a few of us bring our laptops there with games, preferrably new games. We don't have internet out there to connect to. Thanks for the support EA! =/

Wow, the gaming companies are trying their best to kill off PC gaming for good. I have always purchased or requested/received as gifts what I considered to be the best PC games (Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft, Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic to name just a few). Everything I see happening with PC games recently is totally driving me away from them .... the DRM nonsense with Spore, no LAN in Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 and now this crap. It's complete nonsense what these companies are doing. When I purchase a game, I should be able to install it and play it without the internet and I shouldn't be limited to 3 installs. It's ridiculous that with all these advances in computers and networking that the companies are stepping backwards and giving us crippled software.

I'd like to know what benefit I'm getting for my single player mode if I'm going to be spending my precious download quota by simply running the game. Also who cares if I cheat on a single player mode? Perhaps cheating is my way of enjoying the single player to the fullest. Seems to me this is simply a DRM device. Sorry EA not gonna waste my quota just so you can be sure I've bought my copy. It's a shame really because I did want to buy this one...

No need to worry there is already a patch to allow offline play and is ready to go even before release.

Why they even bother i have no idea, anything can be modified do they really think that people who buy the game can only connect to play single player and not hurt there sales?.

A lot of bull in what he, but this interests me. First he states "This is primarily due to our "player progression" feature so everything can be tracked. C&C 4 is not an MMO in the sense of World of Warcraft, but conceptually it has similar principles for being online all the time.". He then goes on to state "You won't need a fast connection, in fact, you could be on age-old dial-up, and have the same single player experience as everyone else". So let me get this straight a dial-up connection well update my "player progression" and "track" me just as fast as a DSL or Cable connection? I might not know much about networking, but that's hard to believe. I mean if you're going to lie about the fact that this is just you're evolution on DRM can't you do better?

Yeah EA won't let DRM die ever. It's like the Energizer bunny. It keeps going, and going, and going....(till we stop buying their products. Wonder why they bought the exclusive NFL contract?)

😡 Hey, you got Spyware in my DRM!
>😱 Oh yeah? Well you got DRM in my spyware!

I hate the direction game publishing has gone. On the bright side, my gaming to do list just got a little lighter.

WEll! For all of you complaining don't complain to EA.

Blame the people like pirate bay.GRoksta and limewire and all the other lame peer to peer thieves out there. Also blame the stupid sob who say I will just pirate it.

DRM cost money to implement they wouldn't do it if the piracy numbers were not totally out of control.

ALSO to all of you lame chicxen Sh#$ p2p thieves who are to cowardly to actually shop lift the game like a respectable thief.

PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE WHY MY COMPANY SPENDS MONEY DELETING SPAM BY THE BUCKET FULL OUT OF INBOXES. EVERYONE OF YOU STUPID SOBS ARE LOADED TO THE GILLS WITH VIRUSES. If the pirates sites were shut down spam traffic would shrink by 90%.

So if you don't like SPAM or DRM
DONT PIRATE
buy the goods you like.
Saying it sucked and I would of brought it if was good is PURE BULL.

YOU PLAY YOU PAY..

anything else is just a lie

[citation][nom]nli428[/nom]Given the success of WoW it seems that there is a huge market where requiring the internet is not an issue.Pirating is absolutely an issue here. It's much easier to get a cd key that works offline illegally.[/citation]

For WoW and several Windows live (and Xbox live) titles, alternate private servers work wondows. =D

Private servers have been the solution to an array of games before, so this is nothing new.

WOW after i heard bullcrap about DRM plague, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 don't support LAN then Alen wake delaying i thought things couldn't go any worst. Now i dont surprise to hear pc failing as a gaming platform and junkbox(xbox) becoming industry standards.

I can say one thing EVIL ALWAYS FIND A WAY,so beware EA

Defeat piracy they want.

Ironic, that even if you buy the game, you can still improve your experience by using "cracks", that get rid of annoyances like "where is your game CD please?" and stupid "steam" "please wait"s and banners.

Seriously EA, you dropped the ball big time on this one. I can swallow more then most in terms of DRM. I even don't care much about the dropped LAN support in Blizzard games. But this crosses all sorts of lines that were never meant to be crossed. Count me and my money out of your accounts.

Please never make any game ever again until you fire some of your strategy folks and actually do some market research for a change.

"The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."

This reminds me of when I downloaded Company of Heroes for free. I played it and enjoyed it so me and my friend bought it and then the expansion. Little did we know it came with Securom and DRM so it completely messed my system up. HEY GUYS, I DON'T HAVE A CD-ROM DRIVE, I DON'T HAVE TO HAVE ONE, IF I BOUGHT YOUR GAME THEN I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY HOWEVER AND WHENEVER I FU**ING FEEL LIKE. I agree with everyone else here. CC4 and now SC2 will be 2 games I wont be buying, but I will DL the hacked versions.

This is so dumb, I rarely play games online because of my bad aim, I prefer the single player experience over the multi-player aspect. So this means that when my internet goes down, I can't play the game? I have never played the C&C series but I am a StarCraft fan. The developers need to find of another way to allow people to play the game if the internet goes out.

Probably will be offered on Steam, since they also love this internet required for single player nonsense. Registering online is even more fineprint garbage that only burns paying customers.

Sorry for the negative attitude, but whenever I have internet, its usually dial-up.

EA is not fooling anyone. It's indeed only a new DRM. I fear that, given the fact that the internet is more accessible than ever, more and more companies will begin to do the same. Easier for them to control, harder for us to bypass. I couldn't care less actually, but I fear the concept of ownership will begin to fade away. Games and applications will be avaiable online only (cloud computing) and we'll have to rent them, not own them.
