Currently with iinet ADSL2+
Cable is compatible with my area.

So I'm currently getting 1.2Mbps download speed and actual data speeds are 120KBps which sucks ass and I'm looking into moving to Telstra for cable Internet (100 max Mbps plan). Was curious to know what the perks and disadvantages of cable Internet were, honestly the price of a bundle isn't Any different to what I'm paying now so don't worry about that but in regards to actually data speed (KBps MBps) and also latency (ping/ms) for gaming if like to know whether cable is good or not. Any and all information is welcome, I will respond to your answers ASAP.
Thanks!

I'd imagine with your current connection there is not going to be any disadvantage in getting cable.
It has been known that in areas where there is a single fibre provider and a high adoption rate, there can be contention issues meaning you don't get the full download speed promised at all times, but I can only see your connection improving.

I'm not sure what the norm is in your country but check out the difference between FTTC & FTTP, (Fibre to the cabinet / premises), both are good compared to ADSL but FTTP is better if available.

There's 2 or 3 major Cable providers so I'd imagine the congestion wouldn't be too bad and I'm pretty sure fibre to the premises isn't available in most parts of Australia because they're rolling out a Fibre to the node (cabinet maybe?) network instead but that'll take months if not years to get into my area. Thanks for the help!
