Can’t open web pages in a new window Plz hlp



This is the 2nd time this has happen to me and I had to format to fix the problem. No amount of reinstalling, repairing or removing fixes the problem. I have reinstalled IE6.0 several times and reinstalled windows 98se over it’s self to no avail. I even went back to 5.5 with no luck.

The problem seems to appear when I install the latest VB6 runtime from Microsoft found: http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/vbrun60sp5.exe.

I need this to run the program MP3 ISO builder so formatting is not the answer because the problem will just reappear.

I just don’t under stand the instruction? Can someone please tell me in easy to understand instruction how to fix MY IE.

That KB article says that the fix is only if you experience the problem after installing IEAK (Internet Explorer Administration Kit) which apparently is some sort of tool to bundle custom browser based software solutions. Did you install IEAK? If not, it doesn't look like that fix is for you, unfortunately.

Yea I guess your right. I did not install the IEAK package, I just installed the latest VB runtime form MS when the problem seemed to appear.

I have been searching the MS support boards for days and this was the only one that seemed to fit my problem perfectly and at this point I’m ready to try anything.

If you have any other ideas what I should do please let me know!

One good thing about my problem is it stops all those “window popup thingies”.
