I would like to upgrade my CPU to E6600 but it seems like 1333FSB CPU is cheaper with higher GHz.

Should I change my MB if I choose 1333FSB CPU?

Thanks

Are you sure about that wrate, because in order for it to maintain a similar stock clock speed as the 333mhz (1333mhz) fsb cpu's the multi would then have to be forced up, which Im not sure the chipset would do. I will do some diggin around.

After looking around I havent found anything to solid and havent heard much about the downclocking of the FSB as I dont believe that it would be that similar to putting in faster speed memory, but as said above some work and some dont and in most cases I believe with a bios update many of your problems would be fixed for the upgrade, so I would check for the lastest bios update if I were you! Hope this helps.

No the multi would not clock up, you would jsut be stuck with a poor processor, most boards can handle 1333fsb though and you could manually put it up tot aht, and while you're there overclock it a bit 😀

Well, as updating my bios will be a risky business as I do not have a floppy disk, changing my MB [965P-DS3] to newest 1333FSB will be the choice if I want to upgrade my CPU to 1333FSB CPU.

Thanks for the info guys....

I am sure most good p965 motherboards can easily run at 333Mhz and can run a CPU at 1333 Mhz with the correct BIOS.
I am not sure about the Yorkfield, that may have a different voltage.
KILLER if you can put in a Yorkfield in there. Same socket.

Slyfox - what do you base your statment on? CPU list shows N/A for 6x50 series for rev. 1 board, while for Rev 3 board it shows F11 updates bios for 6x50 series.

An yes the board will do FSB 1333, Mines using FSB 1600.

This has been posted a couple of times, First that I saw was MrsB's post, Then I saw one where the OP set his system Bios to 1333. put the CPU in and it would not post.

I think the problem is that without the Bios update, the MB will not recognize the cpuid
