I have two 2gb memory sticks from an unbranded company (qumem) .. One of them recently got damaged and gave repeated bsod. So i removed it and the other stick works fine but i am afraid that one day the good one might get damaged as well and may permanently damage my hard disk too..! Is it possible for a ram to physically damage hard disk or cause any problem that cannot be solved by formatting it? .. Can it damage the motherboard either? or i am just getting paranoid?

Paranoia. Bad ram will not permanently damage hardware.

However, bad ram can cause corrupted data transfers. If you are transferring family photos (non replaceable data) about, I would invest into some new functional ram.
