Hi guys, i have a quick question for all you experts out there. Can a GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 5.0) handle a GTX 1060 6G a fx 8320 and 16G of RAM? im asking cuz i have the setup alrady and itrs carshin. Or could it maybe be my PSU? its the Cooler Master extreme power 700w plus.

I'm asking because i dont have alot of money right now and want to know what to replace.

Thanks in advance : )

Solution
That motherboard has a Weak VRM setup and can struggle with an 8320 even at stock speeds. A common issue with that combo is VRM throttling, that will cause the cpu to run at 1.4Ghz under load. Overheating/over loaded VRMs will also cause system instability. Mix that with a PSU with poor voltage regulation (like the Seventeam built Coolermaster extreme series) and you have the recipe for a large headache that's going to hurt the wallet.

I'm on default settings on my clock speed. on the cooling front id say its ok, I've got a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan for the GPU a Xion Performance Meshed mATX USB 3.0 Tower with an additional fan and these are my curent logs from HWmonitor.

So you're saying i would need to upgrade both?

Hello?

I had that motherboard (version 6). It was paired with an FX-8320E I had overclocked to 4.2 Ghz. I used an old 120mm Xigmatek tower cooler - not as good as your CM Hyper 212 Evo. It didn't crash, it didn't overheat and it didn't throttle. In a Fractal Design case the warmest I saw it was 60C while stress testing with Intel Burn Test and 52C while gaming for several hours. Your max temps are pretty high (I would never run an FX process at those temps). Try running the CPU fan at 100% and/or remove the side panel and point a household fan at it. If it still crashes or throttles try another power supply if you have access to one. I would also reseat the cooler with new TIM.

Basically, that motherboard should be easily be able to handle an FX-8320 at stock if properly cooled.

There is no difference in any FX octacore once they're overclocked to the same speed. The only reason an FX-8320E is rated at 95W is because its stock clock is 3.2 Ghz instead of 3.5 Ghz (for the FX-8320). Overclock them both to 4.2 Ghz using the same voltage and they will consume the same amount of power.

No, its not. With an FX processor the max AMD recommends is 65C at load. 80C sustained will kill it eventually (and it could well be why its crashing). Its too hot. You need to track down why it is.

Well maybe got lucky as its a known common issue with boards that use a 4+1 VRM phase to struggle with the 125w CPUs and considering the OP is having issues it's a valid concern.

As for the temps 80° is bad and well past where the cpu will throttle, however HWMonitor can have issues reading the proper values, for example if those voltages where current the system system shouldn't even be running. Try using AMD overdrive to monitor the temps.

I think i'm just gonna bite the bullet and upgrade to a mid tower setup. Would these replacements be good enough to fix the issue?

This is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade, but it would stop the crashing and put you on good footing for future upgrades:
