[SOLVED] Can a malware infect MOBO bios and RAM ?

Solution
Best thing to do right now to make sure with 100% that virus is gone is CLEAN INSTALL and with clean install I mean formatting your drive(s). Since you stated you're not a techie guy, but newbie, probably you weren't doing backups as well, so your best shot right now is to do clean install of Windows. If you don't know how to do, google it, or check this website, I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of guides how to do clean install of Windows. Once you install fresh Windows and install your everyday and necessary apps and games you usually use & know for sure they are 100% safe, then make a backup of your drive. You can do it with Macrum Reflect software. There are guides and tutorials how to do backups with it. Good luck.

I ran into a weird massege that put a bios password on my computer. It was some text demanding money and accusing me of watching child porn...like seriously wtf!! My pc is a hostage now and it won't allow me access any cmos or any boot options.

Pics please...
Upload your pic to imgur.com, and post the BBCode link here.
I can't post any screenshots because my pc is stuck in bios due to this virus, but I found an identical massege on the Internet.

It is exactly the same except mine has a digital panel on the right side that asks me to write my bank account details so the so called FBI extort 10k .

Change harddisk with another to install the new windows...eh. If it is really a hard bios virus, it still can be outplayed via flashing bios (updating or down-dating+-back-updating)

Stupid fishing. I remember the one adressed to me - "we caught you, pervert, watching pervert porn with your camera" ...and I've never had a camera attached to my PC, neither do I watch the pervert porn.

Playing Age of Empires 2 HD remaster.
OK....that looks like ransomware, not an actual BIOS issue.
This is within Windows, not the BIOS.

And that "game" was almost certainly the origin of this malware/ransomware.

2 choices:
  1. Recover your whole data from the backup you made before this happened.
  2. Full wipe and reinstall of the OS and everything else.

Oh, and #3....don't do that again with a "remastered" game.
