Can a USB stick be bootable while storing other files?

Is it possible to have Windows 7 and other data on single flash drive, yet still be able to boot from it? Can you partition the drive to do this? And, how does the computer know which partition to boot from?

just add a software folder and put the files in it

will still boot and load windows fine

Hmmm... Alright, thanks. Now this has me thinking that the computer only looks at the setup application, which chooses the folders that it needs.
