Question Can anyone with a 700 or 600 series nvidia gpu run a powershell command line for me?

Hi. Need to check if the 700 series gpus are virtual machine partitionable.

If you have a 700 or 600 series gpu, could you kindly run this command in powershell - "Get-VMPartitionableGpu" without the quotations.

Also if you could check if this folder exists, doesn't have to be exact, just the nv_dispi.inf_amd64_ part , that would be great. → https://ibb.co/M7cWsNG

Since i'm running GTX 760 (MSI N760-2GD5/OC) in my Haswell build (full specs with pics in my sig), i looked it up.

Folder does exist on the given path.

But running the command got me this error:

Oh. Was hoping to test virtualization on a cheap GPU. I'll have to get a 900 series card then. They do have virtualization.

Btw, are you running on enterprise or pro Windows? I'm or sure, but maybe that might be the reason for the error. If not, the GPU probably doesn't support virtualization.

I'm running Win10Pro 64-bit, which was upgraded from Win7Pro 64-bit OEM.

I have 0 knowledge about VMs, so, can't discuss it with you.
Though, it could be, that the MSI version of GTX 760 i have, doesn't support VM (out of all MSI GTX 760 GPUs, i have lowest spec version), while other versions of GTX 760 might. After all, there are 83 different aftermarket GTX 760 GPUs out there (full list here). Perhaps other GPUs in 700-series might be VM compatible. E.g GTX 780 Ti, which is one powerful GPU.

GPU passthrough for VMs isn't supported on Windows and re-routing API calls is only supported on Windows Server hosts if using Hyper-V. Otherwise it's on VMWare (not sure if it the free version supports this).

Since my Haswell build is my missus'es PC, i can't check it at the moment (she is working via it). But later this evening i could.

Again, Windows doesn't support GPU passthrough for VMs and guest OS API redirection is only available on Windows Server if you're using Hyper-V.

If you're trying to get a VM to natively use a video card, you more or less need a bare metal VM manager.

Kepler architecture GPUs, namely GK104, GK106, GK107, GK110, GK208, GK210 and GK20A chips do support VM passthrough, IF you have GNU/Linux as a host. E.g GK104 is GTX 760, which i have. Now, i don't know if the same applies if you have Win10 as a host. Also, the VM passthrough is supported with R465 or higher (newer) drivers.

Here, i'm sure that i don't have such a new drivers on my Haswell build (can't check right now though). Heck, even on my main build, Skylake, i'm running 456.71 driver version. Since i don't have issues with my GPUs, i haven't updated GPU drivers. So, there's that as well.

GK106 is GTX 660, which @DRagor has. Perhaps he can look and upgrade his GPU drivers to or past R465 for further assistance.
