Yes, the z170 has 6 SATA connectors, an SSD is no different from a HDD when it comes to connectors. Now there are other types of SSD's that connect differently from HDD, but your standard SSD is the same.

No problem using an SSD only. Install Windows to it as you would any other drive. The only exception might be if you want to load it onto a bootable NVMe drive, which is a little more complicated.
