Had a download that failed in Kazaa to complete.
It is really an Mpeg and i already have the other 2 parts.
I can play the .Dat File if i open with WMP'and it's all there.
But i wanna join all 3 parts together.
The Joiner won't recognise the .Dat File'only the other 2 parts.
I can't see how to change it to mpeg in properties.
Is there a quick way to change to Properties to Mpeg or is there a converter you know of?

The honest truth is each part is approx 800mb each.
Even with a cable modem some of the downloads were taking 36 Hours+ depending on how slow the original owners connection is.

The dowloading part was showing 300mb as downloaded in the progress bar'but i noticed in the saved folder it was 800mb????

So i copied the downloaded file into another folder to examaine it'while still leaving the original file intact and downloading.

Examing this copied file it was a .Dat File'and i had to use WMP to open it.It's the whole part'but as it's not the full Kazaa Download it's come up as a .Dat instead of completing as an mpeg.

The icon for the File has changed to a WMP file'and plays ok'but it is still a .Dat file and i need some way of changing it to an Mpeg File so i can join it onto the other 2 parts.

Either that or i'm gonna have to keep downloading this massive file slowly again.

Thanx

You might find something <A HREF="http://softlandmark.com/DVDVarious.htm" target="_new">here</A> that you can use, like DVDCutter Stream.

the reason the file is a dat is because the origional creator of the file wrote the file to cd in mode 2 format, this allows more space to be used on the cd, it also makes it less compatible with other devices. any file on a mode 2 cd is saved with the extension .dat. search doom9.net, i think there is some tools there about mode 2 file conversion.
