Can i connect my laptop to my old computer tower with out the monitor?

Trying to get old music files from old tower computer with out monitor transfered to my laptop. Tried to use cable cord that you would use to hook up computer to tv and screen just got smaller. Can't find tower on my laptop??????

Best way to do it is through an ethernet cable, but I don't know if you can do it without having a monitor to set it up on both ends.

You need what is called a crossover cable. It will plug into both computer's network jacks and you should be able to move the information over. You may want to look into a data transfer program that supports that connection.

You could take out the hard drive from the tower, then use a cheap kind of HDD enclosure/adaptor to connect to your laptop via USB.

You can't use the laptops screen for the desktop computer, what you can do is buy a HDD/SSD enclosure that connects to the computer via USB, you then take the hard drive out put it in the enclosure and connect it to your laptop, you can then access all the files on the hard drive on your laptop and so through your laptops screen.

Then just copy and paste the needed files over.
