Can I know if a device is USB 3.0 or 2.0 in Device Manager?

I'm using apps like HWInfo to learn this, but I've always wondered if it's possible to learn this from Device Manager, especially when I'm remoting into a customer's PC with Teamviewer, without having to install an app.

Jus ask them what their Motherboard is and google it, that should tell you what ones are 3.0 and what ones are 2.0

1. Open the Device Manager.
2. In the "Device Manager" window, click the + (plus sign) next to Universal Serial Bus controllers. You will see a list of the USB ports installed on your computer.
   • If your USB port name contains "Universal Host", your port is version 1.1.
   • If the port name contains both "Universal Host" and "Enhanced Host", your port is version 2.0.
   • If the port name contains "USB 3.0", your port is version 3.0.

There isn't a way to tell if the device itself is a USB 3.0 or 2.0 device. The thing is, Device Manager is a driver management tool, it doesn't know what's going on between the communication protocols between devices.

If you're talking about the ports, then yes, you can figure that information out.
