[SOLVED] Can I link my 6+2 GPU cable to become a 8 Pin GPU?

I’m getting some LINKUP Cable extensions, and it comes with 2X 6+2 GPU Cables, my GPU (Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580) needs only a 8 Pin and 6 Pin. I know when I plug it in I can just leave the extra 2 Pins out but I want my build to be clean and not have a hanging out 2 Pin on the side of my GPU. Is it possible to connect the extra 2 Pin to my 6 Pin together so it won’t just hang there?

as long as it not plug in to anything.

I believe that it will latch on, but then it will be like an 8-pin, and the edge of the 6-pin connector on the card will push at it, so you won't be able to plug it in.

Unfortunately, leaving it hanging there is something you will have to live with. It's the downside to the flexibility that the dual 6+2 setup gives you.

Aw man well thanks though, it’s just I saw a picture of someone using the extensions and it was on the same I had. I guess he just took the photo at a different angle

It MIGHT be possible to tuck it behind, but those wires tend to not want to bend a whole lot, and typically start returning to their original position.

Plus, I'd be really uncomfortable bending/twisting them much, anyway.

The wires that LINKUP give you for the extensions aren't like the regular PSU 6+2 Cables that have a U-Shaped Wire for the 2 pin coming from the 6-Pin. They're already straight in a line but the 2-Pin is not together with the 6 Pin.

Oooh, I see..... I misunderstood earlier.

It still can't be hooked together to be an 8-pin if you're plugging it into a 6-pin connector on the card, as the card's connector will force them to split if you applied pressure.

BUT - it seems like the separation of the wires will allow you to pull the extra +2 portion away and tuck it out of sight.

Those look pretty nice
