Well as I visited our old apartment today with my mum.. I found my first ever pc while cleaning the drawing room... So I started it ( 4-5 year old ) pc started immediately ...and I was able to play GTA 4 on it with a 1 gb graphics card@ 20 fps.!!
So I thought of giving it to my younger brother by adding a new graphics card a little more powerful one

PC specs....
Intel Pentium G2020 processer(2.9ghz)
Kingston ddr3 2× 4gb ram sticks
450 watt psu
and a ddr4 motherboard...(I don't know the brand as I didn't open it)
And finally a Nvidia GTX 210 1gb graphics card...
And some cheap upgrade suggestions might be appreciated...under 300-400 $

Solution
Sure, you can upgrade a GT 210 to anything that will fit as the PCIe connectors are forward and backward compatible, but don't get too crazy on price -- your other components will bottleneck performance from a high end card.

Take a look at THIS GPU hierarchy list. I would focus on about a GT1030 or RX550 range card for an $80-110 price. Much more is a waste.

Also, consider the quality of the PSU -- sure it's 450W but what is the brand?

I suspect that is an error, if the machine runs and has DDR3 memory, the motherboard is no doubt DDR3 from the time period of the CPU and memory.

The RAM the GPU uses (GDDR5) operates independently of system RAM (DDR3). They can be completely different and still work.

Do be aware that the G2020 may end up being the bottleneck in certain games. In particular it only supports 2 concurrent threads, so won't be able to run games which require the CPU support 4 threads. So don't go too crazy buying a nice GPU, unless you also plan to upgrade the motherboard and CPU in the future.

Thats not what I was saying, he said he had a ddr4 motherboard, as in a motherboard tat fits ddr4 ram, and he said he was using ddr3 ram, which will not fit intothe dimm slots on the mobo as ddr3 wont fit into ddr4 slots.

You won't have ddr3 on a ddr4 motherboard, the G2020 was only made for ddr3 so it's safe to say that's what the motherboard is too.

As for the subject line, Yes you can pair any graphics card (regardless of it's memory type) with a ddr3 motherboard. As already mentioned, don't get too carried away with the card as the rest of your system will become a bottleneck.

Thank you guys....your efforts are much appreciated and I will upgrade the processor ..Mobo.. and ram sticks later this year...
Well I am new here and I am unaware of how to reply to a specific thread....by the way it's a Corsair vs 450 watt psu

..thanks beast I was thinking whether a 4gb 550 is better or should I buy a zotac 1050 mini 2gb or 4gb....

I don't think that you will really get the benefit of those cards with what they cost unless you plan to move them to another system in the near future, and they are in the $200 range so 2x the price that you may not see in performance.

It is your money though and you know how much you have to spare.

Mr.Beast
Can u plz suggest me a cheap 300-450$ build ..cause now I am thinking to fully upgrade my old pc..... except the cabinet...cause I already have a spare one...
